About 'medi-cal coverage'|Disabilty determination exam for Medi-CAL








Free               Medical               in               El               Cajon,               California               A               little               known               place               to               receive               free               medical               care               is               Volunteers               in               Motion               located               in               El               Cajon,               California.

They               are               staffed               by               retired               doctors,               dentists,               and               nurses.

The               medical               care               is               designed               to               meet               the               medical               needs               for               those               who               are               working,               but               who               are               not               covered               by               medical               insurance.
               The               requirements               for               qualifying               for               medical               care               are:               You               or               your               spouse               must               be               working               and               be               uninsured.

You               must               reside               in               El               Cajon               or               Lakeside               and               your               household               must               earn               less               than               200%               of               the               federal               poverty               level.
               There               are               no               walk-in               as               it               is               by               appointment               only.

You               can               call               (619)440-4591               to               make               an               advance               appointment               at               the               clinic               or               Reachout               (858)               300-1208               to               set               an               appointment.

When               you               call               ask               for               an               appointment               with               Volunteers               in               Medicine.
               The               offices               are               located               at               1457               ½               East               Madison               Avenue               in               El               Cajon.

You               will               find               that               adjacent               to               United               Methodist               Chapel               of               the               Valley               church.

If               you               are               taking               public               transportation               from               the               El               Cajon               Transit               Center               you               would               take               the               Route               873               shuttle               or               the               Route               815               Kaiser               Permanente               Bostonia               shutte               and               exit               at               Madison/E               Main.
               The               current               office               hours               are               Wednesday               4:00               p.m.

to               8:00               p.m.

and               Saturday               8:00               a.m               to               noon.
               The               hours               are               subject               to               change.

There               are               two               exam               rooms               that               are               located               currently               in               a               modular               building.
               The               clinic               handles               routine               health               screening,               uncomplicated               acute               and               chronic               illnesses,               preventive               medicine,               office               treatable               trauma,               routine               obstetrical               care               (less               delivery),               OB-GYN               office               care,               well               baby               and               health               examinations,               physical               examinations,               geriatric               care,               minor               x-ray               and               lab               procedures,               essential               dental               care               for               adults               and               children               on               a               limited               basis               and               acute               treatment               of               an               stabilization               of               walk-in               emergencies               prior               to               transportation               to               a               health               care               facility.

They               will               provide               medications               at               no               cost               if               available.

Specialty               care               is               dependent               on               availability               and               will               vary.
               This               is               a               VIM               facility.

VIM               is               volunteers               in               Medicine.

This               facility               is               not               an               urgent               care               center               and               it               does               not               dispense               any               sort               of               narcotic               drug               nor               does               it               treat               narcotic               additions.

It               is               zip               code               specific               and               only               those               who               live               in               the               following               zip               codes               are               eligible               for               treatment:               92019,               92020,               92021               and               92040.
               Should               you               not               qualify               for               VIM,               you               can               contact               Reach               Out               by               dialing               211               or               by               dialing               (858)               3009-1208               and               they               can               direct               you               to               other               free               facilities.

    About 'low health care insurance'|Low-Cost Health Insurance is Available for New Jersey Families








    Just               when               you               thought               you               had               a               lot               of               benefits               in               being               a               state               employee,               along               comes               a               brilliant               idea               that               may               have               to               be               implemented               in               more               states               or               on               a               national               level.

    Alabama               isn't               necessarily               known               for               bringing               a               lot               of               innovations               to               this               country,               yet               they're               taking               extreme               measures               to               curb               their               obesity               levels               that               are               some               of               the               worst               in               the               country.

    And               what               better               way               to               impose               punishment               for               eating               yourself               to               death               than               making               state               employees               have               to               pay               more               for               health               care               insurance               if               they               exceed               a               certain               weight?

    That               should               get               people               off               the               argument               saying               state               employees               get               all               the               good               benefits.

    While               only               in               Alabama               at               the               moment,               it's               arguably               one               of               the               fairest               systems               so               far               in               fighting               back               against               the               national               threat               of               obesity.

    After               all,               even               after               all               the               warnings               and               increasing               education               about               obesity               in               the               last               year,               you'd               think               there               would               have               been               a               strong               incentive               of               people               to               finally               do               something               about               it.

    We               even               heard               reports               not               long               ago               that               the               worst               cases               of               obesity               in               America               had               leveled               off,               which               was               supposed               to               make               us               feel               better               and               tell               us               that               people               were               finally               getting               educated               on               how               to               lose               weight.
                   It's               frustrating               then               when               you               hear               other               national               reports               more               recently               saying               that               obesity               rates               were               rising               again               in               some               states.

    With               news               like               that,               it               makes               you               wonder               how               much               longer               it's               going               to               go               before               there's               such               a               massive               health               crisis               and               premium               rate               hike               on               health               insurance               that               it'll               bring               down               our               health               care               system               from               overburden               and               a               lot               of               lives               in               the               process.
                   Yes,               if               education               isn't               going               to               make               any               difference               in               obesity               rates               in               a               time               when               nobody               seems               to               have               time               to               get               educated               on               streamlining               their               diet,               then               hitting               people               in               the               pocketbook               just               might.

    Of               course,               it'll               probably               cause               some               kind               of               low               morale               in               state               jobs               if               not               even               resignations               in               Alabama               where               they'll               now               charge               obese               people               $25               extra               in               health               insurance               depending               on               their               body               mass               index,               blood               pressure               rates,               etc.

    It's               a               tough               way               to               stick               it               to               those               who               don't               have               any               regard               for               the               concept               of               health               insurance               premiums               rising               due               to               their               obesity               forcing               doctors               and               the               health               care               industry               to               work               longer               hours.
                   With               all               the               talk               of               every               single               soul               turning               obese,               you'll               still               find               many               who               aren't,               and               they               don't               want               to               be               paying               higher               health               insurance               based               on               someone               else               not               being               able               to               control               their               diet.

    You               can               see               how               that               makes               health               care               one               of               the               top               three               issues               in               America               now               as               well               as               potentially               creating               a               chaotic               situation               that               might               be               unfixable               if               people               keep               eating               the               way               they               are.

                   Keep               in               mind               that               those               people               in               Alabama               will               have               plenty               of               time               to               get               their               weight               back               to               something               resembling               normal.

    Apparently               they'll               have               until               2011               to               get               in               shape               or               face               those               health               insurance               spikes               that               frankly               should               be               higher               by               that               time               if               they               haven't               taken               the               initiative               due               to               a               complete               disregard               of               moderation.

    It's               that               sense               of               moderation               that's               been               completely               lost               in               America               due               to               the               suspicious               addiction               of               snack               foods               and               people               feeling               depressed               with               other               problems               to               the               point               of               no               longer               having               pride               in               how               they               look.
                   Is               it               possible               that               we've               gone               so               far               over               the               brink               that               those               obese               are               willing               to               shell               out               the               extra               money               for               that               state               health               insurance               in               Alabama?

    Chilling               thoughts               like               that               shouldn't               be               out               of               the               question               when               those               eating               themselves               to               oblivion               are               starting               to               do               a               lot               of               things               to               avoid               having               to               change               their               diets               that               apparently               calm               out-of-control               urges               never               seen               before.

    When               that               happens,               it               might               put               a               kibosh               on               the               chance               for               this               idea               to               snowball               to               a               national               level               as               a               final               resort               in               getting               people               motivated.
                   Eventually,               though,               our               federal               government               may               have               to               look               into               imposing               some               kind               of               penalty               tax               on               obese               people               in               America               in               order               to               clear               a               way               so               health               care               reform               can               happen.

    People               want               health               care               reform,               yet               those               turning               obese               forget               that               they're               obstructing               the               process               from               ever               happening.

    As               potentially               in               Alabama,               however,               we               may               see               a               population               grow               to               the               point               where               eating               is               more               important               than               worrying               about               spending               extra               for               health               care               or               having               to               pay               big               tax               bills.

    You               can               see               the               sign               of               that               coming               already               with               people               abusing               credit               cards               to               get               what               they               want               and               no               longer               worrying               about               the               financial               circumstances.

                   Supposedly               there's               easier               ways               to               get               people               to               lose               weight               in               the               workplace               that               don't               involve               threats.

    There               isn't               any               real               documented               evidence               it               works               better               that               way               and               I,               for               one,               feel               that               people               dealing               with               obesity               need               to               get               scared               through               their               own               accord.

    Perhaps               we're               at               the               point               where               letting               the               problem               take               care               of               itself               is               smarter               through               the               process               of               having               people               see               the               evidence               of               a               United               States               life               expectancy               rate               lowering               exponentially               within               a               short               period               of               time.
                   Once               people               see               documented               evidence               of               people               dying               from               obesity-related               deaths,               it               might               just               be               enough               for               them               to               do               something               as               soon               as               possible.

    Death               or               graphic               evidence               of               long-term               suffering               is               the               one               key               thing               that               gets               the               attention               of               anybody               when               you're               trying               to               educate               them.
                   We'll               nevertheless               hold               out               hope               that               Alabama's               program               is               enough               when               rising               food               bills               will               mean               a               huge               inconvenience               to               those               suffering               who               eat               too               much               and               while               paying               a               penalty               tax               on               their               health               insurance               that               could               go               into               buying               some               healthier               food               to               get               on               the               right               track...

    It               also               contributes               to               xerostomia               and               polydypsia               (increase               in               thirst).

    You               can               lose               consciousness               if               you               do               not               eat               properly               before               a               dental               visit               due               to               a               decrease               in               the               blood               glucose               level.
                   b)               Uncontrolled               hypertension               results               in               excessive               bleeding.

    It               can               also               pose               the               risk               of               stroke               after               extractions               or               any               other               form               of               surgeries.

    Anti-hypertensive               medications               can               cause               xerostomia               and               gingival               hyperplasia.

    Xerostomia               increases               the               risk               of               dental               decay.

    If               you               smoke               or               drink               :
                   a)               Smoking               can               cause               severe               periodontal               problem               and               oral               cancer.

    When               you               smoke:
                   (i)               the               blood               vessels               supplying               the               tissues               stay               constricted               for               up               to               an               hour               even               after               you               are               done               smoking               (because               of               the               harmful               chemicals               and               the               heat).

    As               a               result,               over               a               period               of               time               the               tissue               breaks               down               causing               bone               loss               and               periodontal               disease.
                   (ii)               It               is               also               responsible               for               delayed               or               poor               healing               after               extractions               and               any               other               surgical               procedures               in               the               mouth
                   Note               :               Smokeless               tobacco               use               is               closely               associated               with               oral               cancer.
                   b)               Drinking:               if               done               excessively               will               cause               liver               damage.

    The               dentist               has               to               know               if               that               is               the               case               because               :
                   (i)               Damaged               liver               will               produce               less               amount               of               clotting               factors               (chemicals).That               will               lead               to               ineffective               blood               clotting               causing               excessive               hemorrhage.
                   (ii)               Damaged               liver               will               not               metabolize               the               anesthetic               well.
                   (iii)               Also               some               medications               that               are               prescribed               are               metabolized               mainly               by               the               liver.

    You               don't               want               to               put               too               much               pressure               on               a               liver               that               is               already               damaged.
                   (iv)               Drinking               also               leads               to               oral               cancer.

    About               your               family               :
                   a)               Some               medical               conditions               run               in               the               family.

    For               example:               Diabetes               Mellitus,               Hypertension,               Lupus,               Sjogren's               Syndrome,               Mikulicz               Disease,               many               forms               of               cancers               of               the               head               and               neck               region.

    History               of               heart               murmur               can               also               be               a               familial               thing.

    Usually,               that               condition               requires               antibiotic               prophylaxis               to               prevent               the               development               of               life               threatening               bacterial               endocarditis               (infection               of               the               inner               layer               of               the               heart).

    It               gets               easier               to               make               the               diagnosis               if               you               are               aware               of               its               existence               in               the               family               and               inform               the               health               care               professional               beforehand.
                   b)               Dentists               can               help               in               making               the               initial               diagnosis               and               refer               you               to               the               specialists               as               needed.

    Periodontal               disease,               having               the               same               peg               lateral               incisors               and               congenitally               missing               teeth               are               some               sorts               of               dental               conditions               that               can               also               run               in               the               family.
